원작은 어린이 영어 동화 <Are you my mother?> 입니다.

Are You My Mother?
제목: Are You My Mother?
등장인물: Baby bird, Mother bird, Snort, Dog, Narrator.
Narrator: There was a nest in a tree. A mother bird sat on her egg. She felt the egg jump.
Mother bird: Oh, oh! My baby will be here and he will want to eat. I must get something for my baby bird to eat! I will be back! Just be here until I come back, my sweetheart.
Narrator: So away she went. The egg jumped. It jumped, and jumped, and jumped! Out came the baby bird!
Baby bird: (sleepily) where is my mother? Where is my mother? (In surprise) My mother is not here! Where are you? I want to see you, mom. Mom!!!!!!
Narrator: He looked for her. He looked up. He did not see her. He looked down. He did not see her. So away he went down, out of the tree he went. Down, down, down! It was a long way down. The baby bird could not fly, but he could walk.
Baby bird: Now I will go and find my mother
Narrator: He did not know what his mother looked like. He went just right by his mother, but he couldn’t see her. He just came to a kitten.
Baby bird: (prettily) Excuse me, are you my mother?
Narrator: The kitten just looked and looked. It did not say a thing. The kitten was not his mother, so he went on. Then he came to a sleeping hen.
Baby bird: Are you my mother? (pause) Why didn’t you say anything? OK. The kitten was not my mother and the hen is not my mother. I have to move on to find my mother! But where? Where is she? Where could she be? Oh, There’s something doing poo. Are you my mother?
Dog: (Angrily) I am not your mother. I am a dog. Don’t you know what I am doing now? Don’t be bother me while I am pooing. And I can’t even fly like your mother. You should find something that flies.
Baby bird: Thank you. Your advice is very helpful. I am not going to bother you more, just do your best at what you are doing now.
Narrator: The baby bird wandered to look for his mother. But there’s no mother.
Baby bird: (disappointed) Do I really have a mother? I did have a mother. I know I did. But how can I find her? No matter how hard it is! I have to find her. I will. I will!
Narrator: Now the baby bird did not walk. He ran! Then he saw a plane. He yelled at the plane.
Baby bird: Oh, there’s something flying. It must be my mother! Here I am, Mother! Please look at me! I can’t fly like you now. Just come to me. Please…
Narrator: But the plane did not stop. The plane went on. The baby bird realized that it was not his mother. Then he saw something big moving it looked like it was flying. The baby bird didn’t know it, but the big thing was a steam shovel.
Baby bird: There she is! This is my mother! Mother, Mother! Here I am, Mother!
Big thing: Snort.
Baby bird: Are you my mother?
Big thing: Snort.
Baby bird: (disappointed) Oh, you are not my mother.
Big thing: Snort.
Baby bird: I am sorry to bother you. Maybe I don’t have a mother. I am alone in the world. How can I live without a mother?
Big thing: Snort.
Baby bird: Ok, alright. You are a Snort. You are not my mother. I know it. I have to get out of here! But I don’t know where to go. There’s no mother in the world. Where should I go? Could you be my mother? Snort?
Narrator: Snort didn’t say anything. Suddenly the Snort picked baby bird up and started moving. The baby bird had no idea where the Snort was going.
Baby bird: (loudly) oh, oh, oh! What is this Snort going to do to me? Get me out of here! Please! Please! Please!
Narrator: Snort didn’t say anything. It just had moved and stopped.
Baby bird: Where am I? Where did you bring me?
Narrator: Then something happened. The Snort put that baby bird right back in the tree. The baby bird was home! Just then the mother bird came back to the tree.
Mother bird: Do you know who I am?
Baby bird: Yes, I know who you are. You are not a kitten, you are not a hen, you are not a dog, and you are not a plane, or a Snort! You are a bird, and you are my mother. I am not alone any more. Because you will be my side every time. Right? Mom?
Mother bird: Yes, my sweetheart. I am your mom. I will never be apart from you. I promise.
Baby bird: Mom, this is Snort. He brought me to here.
Mother bird: Thank you, Sir. It’s good to meet you.
Big thing: (Happily) Snort.
Mother bird: Do you have to be back where you were?
Big thing: (Sadly) Snort.
Narrator: Then, Snort moved back to the construction site where he worked. Mother bird and baby bird talked over and over during the night.
Mother bird: Now, It’s time to sleep. Good night, sweet heart.
Baby bird: Good night, mom. Mom, you are not going to leave me, are you?
Mother bird: Of course, don’t be afraid. Just sleep well.
Baby bird: Mom…
Mother bird: Yes?
Baby bird: I love you.
Mother bird: I love you.
Narrator: After that, the mother bird always told her son where she was going when she needed to be away for hunting. The baby bird always waited for his mother and didn’t leave the nest. They lived happily ever after.
이상으로 많이 부족하지만 제가 적은 영어 작문 연습글 적어 보았습니다. 어린이 영어 연극 대본용보다는 흥미있는 영어 말하기 대본의 역할이 큽니다.^^
